History

Island Surfboards began in 1969 as an opportunity for two surfers to make some boards for their mates, while enjoying every surfer’s dream of uncrowded waves, pristine coastlines and a relaxed working atmosphere. Over the last 40 years the Phillip Island area has grown, and Island Surfboards has grown with it, to become one of the most recognised names in the core Australian surfing industry.

With a dedicated team of workers, Island has become renowned for their quality hand-made boards, and are a favourite with many surfers, both locally and abroad. As well as having a great range of top quality surfboards, Island also boasts one of Australia’s top surf schools, providing coaching for surfers ranging from entry level to high performance.

The stores also stock all the clothing and accessories a surfer could possibly require, and boast a huge range of selection from all the popular brands. Although the times have changed and the business has grown, the friendly and relaxed atmosphere has remained.

The feel of a locally owned, roots and all core surf retailer still holds pride and place in the business.  The stores offer a vibrant place to browse for clothing and accessories, with expert staff and board shapers always on hand to offer assistance if required, or just to have a yarn about the days surf on offer.
