Below are some of the more popular styles of boards to come out of the Island Surfboards Factory. The boards are made with the highest quality materials, and will vary depending on your height, weight, ability, conditions and more. Use the following as a guide to your options, but remember that the best option is to chat to one of our shapers to determine which is the best surfboard for you.  From shortboards, funboards, guns, mini mals, as well as the new Island Classic Mal range (available in triple stringer style), Island has the board to suit your needs. Combine this with an ever-evolving, high performance kneeboard range, and  all your new board dreams can come true. Ringa Range

RR Shortboard

Size: 5'5 - 6'10
Width: 17½ - 19½
Thickness: 2 - 2 5/8

This high performance shortboard is perfect for an experienced surfer, but can be tailored to suit the needs of intermediate surfers as well. A great board for most conditions and wave types.  Features include a performance outline, rounded square tail, deep concaves and more curve through the tail.

BT Shortboard

Size:  5’10 – 6’6
Width:  19 ½ - 21
Thickness:  2 3/8 – 2 ¾

A wider version of the RR, built for the bigger/heavier (or lazier) surfer.  This model features a slightly expanded performance outline, rounded square tail, a straighter bottom for more speed and single/double concaves.

BD Fish

Size:  5’6 – 6’6
Width:  19 – 21 1/2
Thickness:  2 ¼ – 2 ¾

A loose and skatey feel underfoot, this performance fish works well in small to medium sized surf. A rounder outline and bottom curve combined with single/double concave and a diamond tail adds up to a whole lot of fun!

BK Easy Rider

Size:  5’10 – 7’0
Width:  18 1/2 – 21
Thickness:  2  1/8 – 3

The easy rider is suitable for all levels from beginner to advanced.  A fuller curvier outline, lighter concaves, a vee bottom and a round tail gives this board a very smooth flowing feel.

BF Semi Retro Fish

Size:  5’4 – 7’6
Width:  19 ¼ – 22+
Thickness:  2  1/8 – 3+

A playful summer wave board for beginner to advanced.  Retro looking but with the performance feeling, this board has a larger planing area, light single to double concaves and a vee through the tail.

HP Shortboard

Size:  5’7 – 6’6
Width:  17 ½  – 19 1/2

Hoges’ version of the high performance surfboard for experienced surfers in all waves types.  Performance outline with a hip, rounded square tail and full concave into slight double.

BG Shortboard

Size:  6’1 – 7’6
Width:  19 ½  – 21
Thickness:  2 ½ – 3

A bigger version of his high performance shortboard.  Perfect for the intermediate, heavier or older surfer who still wants a to surf a shortboard.  A fuller outline and more nose area combined with a round tail make this board very easy to paddle, yet keeps the performance feel.  Also perfect for the next step from you first board!

The Fish

Size:  5’10 – 7’2
Width:  20  – 22
Thickness:  2 1/4 – 3

Summer fun combined with all round performance, this board will do it all.  A fuller outline for paddle and stability, with a pulled in swallow tail for hold, and light concaves for maneuverability, almost anyone can enjoy this board!

Schlong

Size:  7’0 – 8’0
Width:  21 – 21 3/4
Thickness:  2 1/2 – 3

Know how to surf but forgotten how to paddle? This board is for you. As the name suggest… it’s a short longboard!  All the paddle of a mini mal, with the feel of a bigger shortboard!  This board features less area in the nose than a mini mal, light concaves and a rounded pin tail.  The Schlong is a great option for novice surfers looking to develop their turns, or the competent surfer looking for a cruising machine.

The Mini Mal

The ultimate first board, the original Mini Mal gives the float and stability to learn the art of surfing.  The best way to develop your surfing is to catch waves, and the added area and volume in a Mini Mal gives you every opportunity to catch as many waves as you can.

The Performance Mal

The Cat Bay Cruiser (Classic Mal)

For the avid board collector and surfer alike, there is nothing more sublime than an Island Classic Mal.  Shaped by guru’s Terry Klemm and Greg Hogan, they are available any way you desire.  Triple stringer, tail and nose blocks, timber veneer fins, wood-grain decks, nothing is too hard with the passion involved in sculpting these boards.  Whether it is displayed in the pool room, or gracing long point break lines, these boards are the ultimate surfing experience.

Kneeboards

Both Hoges and Ringa have taken to shaping kneeboards for the Kneelo Community with great enjoyment. Their ability to mix the innovation and positives of their stand-up shaping with the classic kneeboard requirements has been a huge success with many of the Island and surrounds kneeboarding enthusiasts. 'SR' Range

Staff member, charger and bosses son rolled into one, Sandy Ryan and the Island shapers have developed a range of boards to suit conditions and waves found on Phillip Island, as well as other notorious locations worldwide.
