The Brand New Rip Curl Heated Vest
So it got cold, and quickly, now you are struggling to make it out of bed and to the kettle, let alone venture into the icy wind to check the surf. But that is a brisk north-west breeze shifting those trees, and the forecasts have predicted a solid, clean groundswell. Quite frankly, this is the time of year for proper waves, and you’re sick of emails and social media posts from your so-called friends getting pitted in boardshorts in the Mentawais, and you want a piece of that pie!
The conundrum!!! It is most definitely pumping, there’s most likely no one out, but it’s cold enough to freeze the proverbial off a brass monkey. Well Rip Curl now has your answer. Their new ‘H-Bomb Heated Vest has just been released, and just at the right time. Following in Quiksilver’s winning footsteps, Rip Curl have added their own special features and design to an item that is designed to keep you toasty in the Winter chill. Along with the company’s fantastic choice of materials, the vest offers some great features that surpass their competitors product. Probably the most notable is the heating system, which covers almost your whole back, increasing the spread of warmth to all your frostbitten extremities. We also like the addition of the side zip, making getting in and out of this guy a little easier when you can’t feel your hands.
All in all, the H-Bomb Vest seems to have its advantages over other heated vests, although just how warm you need to be is up to the user. One winning note is that it is a WAY better option for us poor folk than their H-Bomb wetsuit, which was an amazing advance in wetsuit technology, but had many people quite stating they’d prefer to buy two return tickets to the tropics than fork out the bucks for the wettie. Now (as with all of the heated vests), you can buy a vest as well as a good wetsuit (perhaps even two) and still come in at under the H-Bomb suit’s price. Sounds like a definite win to us!!!
