Glyndyn Ringrose

Glyndyn is one of Victoria's best surfers of all time, one of the few that have made it onto the WCT. Learning to catch waves standing in a dugout canoe in the Solomon Islands, with brother Tony as a grommet. Glyndyn got his first taste of competitive surfing in the Phillip Island Boardriders and quickly progressed to the ACC, WQS then as a world class surfer on the WCT.
Glyndyn Grew up in the Solomon Islands, where his parents were missionaries. Glyndyn dreamt of surfing while looking at a poster of a guy riding a huge wave. He and his brother Tony learnt their surfing skills by catching waves and standing in dugout canoes. It wasn't until they moved to Australia that Glyndyn worked after school to save up for his first second-hand board. He started his competitive carrier surfing in the local board riders club when he moved to Phillip Island. Glyndyn Quickly advanced to surfing in the Australian Championship Circuit (ACC) then the World Qualifying Series (WQS) and finally onto the World Championship Tour (WCT). Alongside fellow newcomer CJ Hobgood, Glyndyn proved himself a charger in his first Teahupoo competition in '99, making it to the quater finals. He was named ‘Best Newcomer’ on the WCT that year, narrowly missing the prestigious Rookie of the year title. Glyndyn was also voted number three in Surfing Victoria's Top Ten Surfers of the modern 50 year era.
