Island Surfboards was founded in 1969 when two local surfers started shaping boards for their mates. Back then, Phillip Island offered uncrowded waves, pristine coastlines and the laid-back lifestyle every surfer dreams of. As the region has grown over the decades, so has Island Surfboards, earning a reputation as one of Australia's respected names in surfing.

For 50+ years Island Surfboards has been passionate about producing, preserving and teaching surf culture. We have a highly experienced and dedicated team of shapers, finishers, riders and surf coaches. Over the years, we've built a reputation for producing premium custom made boards, apparel, accessories and surfers. Today, our products and services are trusted by surfers, surf schools and the general public locally, across Australia and around the world.

A Family Business

With three generations of surfing on Phillip Island, Island Surfboards continues to evolve while providing everything you need to make the most of your time in the water. Both Cowes and Smiths Beach locations stock a full range of Island surf boards, along with accessories and a carefully selected collection of leading surf brands. Our Smiths Beach location is also home to one of Australia's leading surf schools, offering lessons and coaching for everyone from first-time surfers to those looking to refine their high performance.
